Terms of Service
Last updated: June 28, 2026
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using Timirti (timirti.com), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. The operator is identified in our Site Notice.
The service
Timirti provides a browser-based platform for learning the Amharic and Tigrinya scripts (Fidel). Features include character lessons, pronunciation audio, quiz-based practice, and AI-generated learning scenarios. An account allows you to save and sync your progress.
We also operate a teacher directory where learners can find Habesha language teachers for 1:1 lessons. Teachers apply to be listed, and we review each application before publishing it.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without liability.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have parental or guardian consent.
Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure.
- You may not share your account or transfer it to another person.
- You must provide an accurate email address and confirm it via the link we send.
- You may delete your account at any time. Deletion is permanent and removes all associated data.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the platform in bulk.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or abuse the service.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
Teacher directory
The teacher directory is a listing service. We review applications but do not verify every claim a teacher makes. We do not employ teachers, and we do not facilitate payments between teachers and learners. Teachers set their own rates and handle bookings through their own external links (Calendly, WhatsApp, etc.).
If you are listed as a teacher, you are responsible for the accuracy of your profile and for the lessons you provide. You keep 100% of what you charge your students. We may remove a teacher profile at our discretion if it violates these Terms or is reported for misconduct.
If you book a lesson with a teacher, the lesson is a private arrangement between you and the teacher. Timirti is not a party to that arrangement and is not liable for the outcome, quality, or conduct of any lesson.
Intellectual property
All content on Timirti, including text, audio files, illustrations, and code, is owned by or licensed to us. You may use the service for your own personal, non-commercial language learning only.
The Ethiopic script (Fidel) and its characters are part of the public domain and Unicode standard. Our specific recordings, lesson structures, and written content are proprietary.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or accuracy of all content.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Timirti and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Changes
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes are effective when posted. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use after posting constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction named in our Site Notice, without regard to conflict of law rules.
