Our mission
Built for the Habesha diaspora.
Timirti is a modern learning platform for second-generation Habesha people who understand their language but never learned to read the Fidel script that connects them to their heritage.
The problem we're solving
The gap between spoken and written heritage
Understanding without reading
Millions of second-generation Habesha people can follow a conversation in Tigrinya or Amharic, but cannot read a message, a sign, or a letter written in Fidel. That gap is painful, it creates distance from family, culture, and identity.
No modern tools existed
Existing apps were built for Amharic or Tigrinya separately, rarely both. Quality textbooks cost $160 or more and required a classroom. Nothing was mobile-first and made specifically for diaspora learners.
Our approach
How Timirti is different
Fidel first
We teach the script directly, not phonetic approximations. Romanisation is a hint, never the target.
Sound families, not lists
Fidel is organised by consonant families. Learning it that way is faster, more memorable, and matches how the script was designed.
Built for everyone
Language is a human right. Timirti is built for every diaspora learner, with no paywalls on core lessons.
What's coming
The road ahead
Complete Fidel alphabet
We're publishing all 33 base sound families with full character sets, audio, and interactive lessons.
In progress
Vocabulary lessons
Once you can read Fidel, we'll build vocabulary modules with cultural context, food, family, greetings, and everyday life.
